STEGO WRAP
Stego Wrap is a polyolefin vapor barrier used to protect concrete slabs from moisture intrusion and soil gases such as radon and methane. These Vapor Barriers come in 10-mil, 15-mil, and 20-mil thicknesses. The 15-mil and 20-mil rolls are Class A-rated, and have low permeance.
Installing Stego Wrap
Stego Wrap can be installed over an aggregate, sand, or tamped earth base. Unroll the vapor barrier over the area where the slab is to be placed. It should fully cover the concrete placement area with a 6” taped overlap. See full installation instructions at stegoindustries.com.

How much does Stego Wrap Cost?
Depending on the mil thickness and vapor barrier class rating, the Stego Wrap pricing ranges from about $0.19 to $0.41 per square foot. This pricing includes shipping. Generally, the higher the mil thickness, the higher the cost per square foot.
How does Stego Wrap Stack up vs. Visqueen?
Visqueen is a more generic term referring to lower grade plastic films that have much higher permeance and less durability than Stego Wrap. Most generic plastic films do not comply with ASTM E 1745 and are not a good choice for under-slab vapor barrier protection.

Above-grade weather barriers -
These are weather barriers that are applied to walls and floors for better airflow through the walls while blocking water from passing through but allowing water vapor to escape. Above-grade barriers are actually breathable membranes which are critical to stopping moisture build-up on the wrong side of the wall causing mildew and rot.
Below-slab/crawl space vapor barriers -
Vapor barriers are constructed for a completely different purpose. These barriers are a lot less passable than weather barriers and should only be used where the movement of vapor is not wanted. Vapor barriers are designed to maintain dry interior slabs and dry, safe crawl spaces.
